Life is Fast…

Fast Pace of Life... ugh.

I had a conversation with someone the other day about the pace of life. He asked, “Is it true that life gets faster when you get older?”

To which I responded, “It seems quicker, but I guess it’s as fast as you make it.”

I guess, at least lately, my life has felt fast. I try to escape it, downsize it, and even avoid it.  However, I all too often turn on the blinker and merge into the left lane lane of life too quickly. Much of these feelings can be attributed to the season of life that I happen to be in right now. And yet, my heart craves for greater simplicity all the more. Even the lazy wanderer outside the coffee shop has stirred a bit of jealousy in me recently. Is that bad?

Commitments are nice, but binding. And so, when my prior pledges disappear in late June, my schedule will go on vacation. If figure while it rests, so can I.

There are two bright spots of hope on the calendar approaching soon… Memorial Day & My Bday (yeah!).

My NEW Car!

SCOTT Bike

I got a new car… well my equivalent to a car! I’ve enjoyed the road bike lately and was gifted (by way of Birthday, Father’s Day, and probably Christmas and Bday next year) this great SCOTT bike! A huge thanks to my beautiful wife!

I got a wonderful deal on this machine from a local dealer– compared to full retail. The store is called, simply enough, THE BIKE SHOP in Salida (exit now– haha!). Tony, the owner, was amazingly helpful with my plethora of crazed questions. I’m a bit indecisive when I buy personal items, so it took a while. Needless to say, he was patient! If you need a bike, Tony’s the guy to talk to!

So, I’m saving gas, good health is always priceless, and a local retailer was supported. All in a day’s work… not too bad. I’m so stoked about riding it tomorrow! All bike riders of the world unite… okay, that was a bit militant. But, seriously…
.

Wow! This is Intense…

If you want to hear a wild way to heal… here you go. I don’t know what I think about this. I think I’d leg-drop this guy if he came at me. I wish this video contained the whole context though! What do you think about healing and “miracles” like this?

You know what else is “intense?” Camping… ha ha!

last night was a blast…

Catalyst :: How fun! The Pickle has landed!
I had a great time last night vision-casting for the ministry I lead. Take a listen here. These next few weeks are going to be so fun!

Story... ONCE UPON A TIME…

What an unbelievable day! There is too much that passed through my “sponge” today to be able to wring it all out in one blog. There is just to much to contain in one cup… one day I just might overflow on you. But here are a few glimpses into what the Lord was saying (reminding strongly) to me today {especially through Chuck Miller}…

  • Whatever ministry is it is first and foremost about people. Event and bricks {buildings} don’t go to heaven, only people.
  • How much do we demonstrate that we are interested in the people as the church scattered throughout the week?
  • My developing a passion for people means letting their stories come into me and then remembering these friends and their stories before the Lord in prayer {powerful}!
  • Sociologists will say that Knowledge itself takes the least amount of time and the least level of difficultly to transfer to others.  And yet, this is where the church of America often spend most of it’s time.  Therefore, one must remember that information will not always equate with transformation.  Transformation happens over great amounts of time in relationship with Christ Himself; abiding in the vine (John 15).
  • God loves you, not because but regardless!
  • That the sound and sight of a saint’s sobs and tears are beautiful pictures of God’s sustaining grace.  He is always near to the broken-hearted and those of contrite heart!

I can’t thank the Lord enough for this great experience I’ve had again in this place.  I just love how this journey continues to both stretch and amaze me!

Home tomorrow, yeah!  Probably a good thing since my wife about killed our dog after he half ate one of our couch cushions (suddenly he became my dog)!

Well, until later…
